Trophy Stories from Rivers North Clients

 

 

Tom M put it all together to get this 40 inch Muskie into the net. Downpouring rain & high winds made for adverse angling conditions, but Tom made it happen!

Mal P. fed this 14 lb trophy Atlantic Salmon & fought him for nearly 30 minutes! A true fish of a lifetime, nice work Mal!

 

Muskies are pretty much the hardest fish that swims to catch on a fly-congrats to Tom G from Ohio for showing this one who was boss! First Muskie.

New to fly fishing, Cam sure started off right! Cam caught this 18 inch wild Brown Trout after a long day of learning new techniques.

 

Gino C found this 12 lb female Steelhead on the end of his fly line. After a long battle Gino won!

A 20 inch Smallmouth on a fly in something special, this fish ate a massive 7 inch streamer pattern! Gotta love a fish that has an appetite like that, congrats to Ted on a biggun!

 

Ted hooked up with the magnum 23 inch resident Rainbow Trout & made short work of it! 3 or 4 huge aerials & several runs nearly into the backing made for an epic battle. Nice work Ted on a true trophy!!

Jeff at it once again with a awesome muskie, some people just have skills!

 

Chris with a mid 40 in class Muskie, these don't come easy as anyone who has fished for them knows well. Big congrats on this fish!

Dirk shows off a Lake Superior Steelhead that he caught on his first cast of the day! Not a bad way to start off a day of fishing!

 

John C of Chicago, IL brought this beautiful 14 inch Brook Trout to the net. A great fish from an area that normally doesnt produce Brook Trout of this size. A wonderful UP stream Brook Trout!

Joe Mueller with a beautiful 12 1/2 lb male Lk.Michigan Spring run Steelhead. Fish was taken April 24, 2007 on 6 lb tippet.

 

Jeff Rhinock of Ohio came up for his first experience at Spring Steelheading. After the first day of getting "served" by several angry Steelhead he brought his "A" game for day two. Pictured is Jeff with a 9 lb Lk. Michigan run Yooper Steelhead-taken May 3, 2008. Nice work Jeff!

Greg Eitelman come sup to Upper Michigan every year to chase trophy Brown Trout. As you can see from the photos below he produces! Both fish below are over 19 inches! Keep up the good work Greg!

Tim Schulz of Houghton, Mi is a big fish fanatic. He is a excellent fly fisherman who puts the fly where it needs to be on every cast. Needless to say trout should tremble when he steps into his waders! Wow! That is one heck of a Atlantic Salmon! Greg Baracy came up for two days (June 17 & 18, 2008) to fish atlantic Salmon on the St.Marys River. In those two days Greg boated some of the best Atlantic Salmon we have ever seen & a bonus 10 lb Steelhead. Picured is Roger "Big Fish" Noyce with two great Atlantic Salmon. When Roger is in the boat-I bring a bigger net! Roger has taken both the 2006 & 2007 Atlantic Salmon of the year.
Both fish were over 13 lb's! Great job Roger!

Brothers Marc & Paul Gray teamed up on July 5 to put on a clinic on how to catch Atlantic Salmon stripping/swinging streamers. The brothers landed 5 Atlantics by 10:00 a.m. on streamers-an absolutely great morning! Good job guys!

Fred Fleury, Mike Pastor & Mike Sauer with a very rare Lake Superior Coaster Brook Trout. This fish was taken by Fred on Sept 30, 2007. Fish measured 23 inches & apprx. weighed 4 1/2 lb's-a true trophy from Gitcheegummee!

Tom Cusnino of Hetrick Insurance (Marquette, MI) with an absolute hog of a Chinook Salmon taken October 15 , 2006. Tom enjoys getting a day off work to fish with his clients! This Chinook weighed in at 20 lb's & took Tom nearly 45 mintutes to get to the net!

Fred Fleury of Marquette, MI with a 9 lb Lake Run Brown trout taken on Spey equipment swinging streamers. Fed took this massive Brown trout on a day (Nov 12, 2006) where the high temp was 18 degrees & winds were 26 mph. I was struggling to stay warm while he continued cats after cast! Persistency & determination paid off huge for Fred!

Cpt. Don Henning took this Atlantic Salmon from the St.Marys River on June 22, 2007. Don & fishing partner Chad hooked 13 Atlantic Salmon on this day & proceeded to get "served" by the majority of these high flying fish! Good times!

Shane Mundt of Marquette, Mi with a great 6 1/2 lb wild Lake Superior Spring run Steelhead. Fish was taken on April 18, 2008 in high Spring runoff conditions - Shane did a great job of containing this fish in heavy water to get a net under her!
